On 1st August 2025, a villager was killed at a dangerous junction on the A19 Riccall bypass. This is not an isolated tragedy. Over the years, there have been multiple fatalities and serious accidents on this stretch of road—each one devastating families and our community.

In 2005, North Yorkshire Council promised Riccall a roundabout to improve safety. That commitment was never honoured after funding was withdrawn. Twenty years on, lives are still being lost while the community continues to wait for action.

We, the undersigned, demand urgent steps to make this road safe:
• Immediate reduction in speed limits and traffic calming measures.
• a comprehensive review of the current junction design and introduction of suitable traffic management interventions to improve safety for vehicles entering and exiting onto the A19.

Every day that passes without change puts more lives at risk. Enough is enough—make the A19 Riccall bypass safe before another life is lost.
